The Startup Lesson Behind Ollie

Ollie’s Origin Story
Every great character has an origin story, and Ollie’s is no exception. When one sister/founder first dreamed up the Camel Unicorn, the other wasn’t so sure. Historically, “camel jockey” has been used as a derogatory term toward Middle Eastern people. But instead of shying away, we decided to reclaim it—to turn something that once diminished into something powerful, iconic, and full of pride.
And so, Ollie was born. His name is a playful nod to our father, Ali, often pronounced “Ah-lee” by Americans. Ollie is a tribute to our heritage, a reminder to embrace where we come from, and a celebration of the resilience and strength that runs through our story.
